We all want the GEG Sydney community to be a safe, fun and enjoyable experience for everyone, so here's a few guidelines to keep in mind.
We're all part of this community, so be friendly, be welcoming, and generally be a nice person. It's a shared communal space, so play nice. Be collaborative and work together. Ask for support when you need it, and support others where you can. We can learn a lot from each other. Share knowledge, participate in the community, and help each other out. Doing this makes us all better for it.
Like any group of people, we're not going to agree on everything all the time. That's ok. Just remember to be respectful and constructive in your communication with your fellow GEG'ers. Don't get into pointless arguments, don't make personal attacks, and don't vent or rant unconstructively. We are all responsible for the tone of this community, so take the initiative to defuse potential tensions before they become an issue.
Think before you speak, whether in person or online. In person, you're always welcome to speak up but be sure to listen too. In online spaces you have the option to reply to just the sender or to the group, so just remember that if you decide to Reply-All, everyone sees everything, If you don't need to send your reply to everyone, don't. Especially in whole group threads, keep off-topic conversations to a minimum.
Don't be spammy, or use the community as a place to advertise, push personal agendas or political views, or promote personal projects which are off-topic.Â
